Two courses in the undergraduate's Technical and Professional Writing program require students to create portfolios. The first course students encounter is ENGL 3410 - Professional Writing Technology. The second one is ENGL 5430 - Professional Writing Capstone.

Both of these courses and the resulting portfolios are important to students in the program, and not only in the immediate sense of getting a good grade. Employers usually require portfolios, so the products of these courses are important to the marketability of the student.

Because of the importance of high-quality portfolios, STC-USU hosts an archive of past portfolios and resources to help students create the best portfolios possible. In addition, starting this semester the chapter will host a competition for the best portfolio produced in that semester's portfolio-producing courses.
